Rising Incidence of Lumbar Disc Herniation
Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with radiculopathy is associated with significant pain, disability, healthcare utilization, and costs. Evidence from recent systematic reviews shows that the incidence of LDH varies considerably across populations and diagnostic definitions, highlighting its continued clinical and healthcare burden. The lifetime risk of symptomatic lumbar disc herniation is estimated at approximately 1%–3%.[1]
